Description :
This course is about convex functions which play an important role in many areas of mathematics. They are especially important in the study of optimization problems where they are distinguished by a number of convenient properties. For instance, a strictly convex function on an open set has not more than one minimum. Even in infinite-dimensional spaces, under suitable additional hypotheses, convex functions continue to satisfy such properties and as a result, they are the most well-understood functional in the calculus of variations.
Course aims :
The aim of this course is to define the graphical an analytical notion of convexity on an interval and give their properties and fundamental theorem, finally we enrich the course with exercises that have been solved.

Students need basic knowledge of the following modules : Algebra, Analysis, Topology, Differential calculus.
